System bus
The set of wires that connects the CPU to memory and devices: an address bus, a data bus and a control bus.
To read memory, the CPU drives an address onto the address bus, asserts a read signal on the control bus, and the memory answers on the data bus. Every instruction fetch, mov from memory, push and pop is one or more of these bus cycles.
